Welcome to the Web Site of the Greater Towson Council of
Community Associations

Who we are

The Greater Towson Council of Community Associations (GTCCA) is a nonprofit
umbrella organization representing the interests and concerns of more than thirty
community associations in the Greater Towson area.  We are organized for the purpose
of education, assistance in development, and as a means of presenting a united front on
common issues or problems too large or too complex to be handled effectively by
individual community associations.
When we meet

Monthly business meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month (except July and
December) at 7:30 p.m. at the Sheppard Pratt Health System Conference Center, 6501
North Charles Street, Towson, Maryland 21204.  For a printable map, click
here and look
for Building # 2.  In inclement weather, the GTTCA follows the school-closing procedure
of Baltimore County Schools.  Check their web site at
www.bcps.org.

If you believe that your Neighborhood Association in the Greater Towson area may not be
represented, please contact
Linda Galati, GTCCA Secretary, to determine if your
community association is a member.

The agreement includes the following commitments from TU:

Community on their successful negotiation of the arena site.

  • The 2009 General Assembly legislative session is underway.  Click here to learn
more about bills being considered that impact our community.

  • The GTCCA reaffirmed its priorities for 2009 at its January meeting.  Our priorities
    include:
  • Seek a cap on Towson University's enrollment until additional on-campus
housing is built to accommodate any increased enrollment
  • Advocate for improved code enforcement
  • Continue to monitor plans to address school overcrowding
  • Advocate for responsible development
  • Work with County and State officials to address crime, safety and traffic
    concerns
The GTCCA also recognizes the increasing need for athletic fields for Towson
area recreation councils, particularly in light of the loss of fields at Ridge Ruxton
School and the Carver Center when construction of new schools begins.  The
GTCCA will seek solutions to this lack of field space for our children's recreational
    use.

  • After months of advocacy for a new elementary school in Towson, the Baltimore
County School Board approved a plan to build a new school on the grounds of the
Ridge Ruxton School on N. Charles Street in Towson.  In the meantime, school
officials recently announced that 4th graders at Rodgers Forge Elementary School
will be moved to Dumbarton Middle School in the fall of 2009 to relieve
overcrowding.  An expansion is also planned at Hampton Elementary School  To
learn more about efforts to address serious overcrowding of Towson elementary
    schools, go to:  www.towsonfamiliesunited.com.
