More Than 12 Miles of Towson Roads to be Resurfaced by Late 2014

Information from Councilman David Marks:

I am pleased to announce that over the next two years, Baltimore County will resurface more than 12 miles of roads in Towson, including major corridors and neighborhood streets in the county seat.

In Rodgers Forge, Baltimore County will resurface Blenheim, Dorking, Dumbarton, Dunkirk, Gaywood, Glen Argyle, Heathfield, Hopkins, Midhurst, Murdock, Overbrook, and Pinehurst Roads, as well as Regester Avenue. Regester Avenue and Glen Argyle and Heathfield Roads will be resurfaced first. On the other streets, the county plans to make upgrades to the sewer lines, so that will occur later.

In West Towson, Baltimore County will resurface Burnbrae Road, Park Avenue, Woodbine Terrace, and Woodbine Avenue, as well as Debaugh Avenue, Central Avenue, and Highland Avenue after water or gas upgrades.

In Towson Manor Village, the county will resurface Linden Terrace, Linden Avenue, Maryland Avenue, Susquehanna Avenue, and Willow Avenue.

In Anneslie, Baltimore County will resurface Edgewood Road.

I am also happy that the county will resurface three of our busiest corridors: the 1.5-mile stretch of Stevenson Lane from Hillen Road to York Road; the 1-mile stretch of Pennsylvania Avenue between Railroad Avenue in east Towson and Highland Avenue in West Towson; and Susquehanna Avenue in the commercial core.

The schedule for this resurfacing will depend on other projects throughout the county, as well as the weather, but it is a sizable investment in the Towson area. I know there are communities such as Idlewylde and Stoneleigh that also have road issues and have asked the Department of Public Works to add these to their resurfacing list as soon as possible.

Between 2012 and 2014, Baltimore County will have invested more than $3.6 million in roads in the Fifth District. Neighborhood leaders have made it clear that they want Towson’s roads improved, and I plan to keep working for more resources for Towson.
