Challenge to Recher liquor license renewal planned – baltimoresun.com

A Towson law firm plans to challenge the renewal of the Recher Theatre’s liquor license in an effort to stop the establishment’s plan to become a nightclub.

The Charles E. Brooks Law Offices will file a petition with the county liquor board within the next week on behalf of residents and property owners, according to Jean Kosloski, an attorney with the firm. Liquor licenses in Baltimore County expire April 30.

“We object to them becoming a nightclub,” Kosloski said. “That type of usage in the center of Towson is kind of a disaster waiting to happen.”

  • There are places serving liquor all over downtown Towson. What’s the public impact difference difference between a night club and a concert venue or a bar/restaurant or a sushi house? What’s different about the Recher’s request?

Considering that downtown Towson has already become the new Fell’s Point, what’s one license one way or the other?

This is def for the best. This place should just be shut down once and for all. The way the staff has treated the patrons for so many years is nothing short of abusive and makes it a corrupt venue. Most people that know about this place steer clear. Wonder why they couldn’t get big names anymore? Word probably got out and the bands prob said “next!” And went somewhere where the staff are required to act professional and not like a bunch of low class gorilla’s at a way ward zoo.
