BCPS Magnet Program Community Meetings

From Councilman David Marks:

Our magnet program is an important part of instruction in Baltimore County. I believe the magnet program not only offers opportunities for students to learn specialized skills, but it can help ease overcrowding and equalize enrollment throughout the county.

I urge you to participate in one of the community meetings scheduled around the county.

Background

In May 2013, BCPS began its six-month magnet program audit with researchers from Metis Associates, an external auditor company. From 2003 to 2007, Metis Associates served as the external evaluator for Baltimore’s federal Magnet Schools Assistance Program grant.

In September, members of the community also will be able to provide their feedback via an online questionnaire on the BCPS website.

BCPS offers more than 70 magnet programs to approximately 12,000 elementary, middle and high school students attending 29 schools throughout the district.
